61 – The Junction – Michael Gilbertson, Environmental Detective

lake

Original Recording Date: September 21st, 2016

Guest: Michael Gilbertson

Michael Gilbertson is an environmental scientist/activist/detective. What started as a casual conversation – about his fascinating project investigating the correlation between environmental factors and breast cancer in a specific group of women – quickly escalated to a history of environmental activism in Canada from 1960 to present. Easily one of my favourite conversations in terms of the immense amount of information he was able to tuck into one hour. It’s incredible and fascinating and extremely important. I learned SO MUCH. I especially learned that CFRU should have an Environmental Detective Show (I’m brainstorming my recruitment 🙂 This episode features a song by Meg Harnum called “County Lines”.
