84 – Village of Riverside Glen – Jim Hunt

Jim HuntOriginal Recording Date: April 5th 2017

Guest: Jim Hunt

It’s an incredibly special episode for me, because it features Jim Hunt: a resident of The Village of Riverside Glen retirement home, an 84 year old retired UofG Physics professor who was born and raised in Guelph, and worked in radio at CFRC 101.9fm in Kingston. Jim is one of the main reasons CFRU exists, because – while sitting on the building committee for the new Physics building on campus in the early 60’s – he requested the building of a room dedicated to a student-run radio station, and found us our first donated radio equipment from Ottawa. This episode speaks to that, to his love and fascination of the early history of synthesizers and Hugh LeCaine, and features some stories from his book of memoirs. It’s really so very close to my heart, and I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
